2026-05-01 Feature Release "Managed Microsoft Server"

What's New

We’ve expanded our Managed VM service offering with support for Microsoft Windows Server-based workloads. This enables customers to run Windows-based systems within the Managed VM operating model, including standardized operating system management, monitoring integration, patch handling, and incident support at VM and OS level.

The standard Managed Service scope focuses on the operation of the Windows Server operating system. An Operations Handbook can document additional checks or actions for components operating above the operating system layer.

Key Features

Provisioning & Configuration

  • Installation and basic configuration of Microsoft Windows Server on Managed VMs
  • Preparation of the operating system according to the agreed Managed VM operating model
  • Support for Windows-based workloads within the Managed Services portfolio

Managed OS Operations

  • Operation of the Windows Server operating system as part of the standard Managed VM service scope
  • Integration into our central operations and monitoring infrastructure on VM and OS level
  • Patch and update management for the operating system according to the agreed patch processes
  • Incident handling for VM- and OS-level issues within the agreed SLA

Application Scope & Responsibilities

  • Microsoft SQL Server and Office 365 Business Server components can run in Managed VM environments
  • These components operate outside the standard Managed Services scope by default
  • Application-level administration remains the responsibility of the customer or their administrators
  • This includes configuration, tuning, high-availability design, application-level backup strategies, and operational concepts
  • Individual agreements or an Operations Handbook can define additional supporting activities where required

Known Limitations

Application Operations

  • Microsoft SQL Server and Office 365 Business Server components are not part of the standard Managed Service scope
  • Application-level configuration, tuning, HA design, and backup concepts remain the customer's responsibility
  • An Operations Handbook may document operations above the OS level that are not covered by the standard Managed Service

Monitoring & Automation

  • Standard monitoring covers VM and operating system level
  • Application-specific monitoring requires an explicit agreement
  • Restart policies, escalation paths, and event-specific actions require documentation in an Operations Handbook

2025-06-30 Feature Release "Managed MariaDB"

What's New

We’ve expanded our Managed VM service offering with the introduction of Managed MariaDB. This feature provides a managed and preconfigured MariaDB setup for customers who require a reliable relational database without managing the underlying operating system or database operations themselves.

New Capabilities

Provisioning & Configuration

  • Automated setup using a tested Puppet module
  • Default configuration uses InnoDB as the storage engine
  • Aria and MyISAM are also available as optional engines

Replication Capabilities

  • Primary/Secondary replication supported
  • Galera Cluster for synchronous multi-master setups is available as an option

Security & Infrastructure

  • TLS encryption for database communication
  • Runs on hardened Linux base images within our OpenStack-based Managed VM platform
  • Operated in ISO 27001-certified German data centers

Backup & Recovery

  • Backups use mariadb-backup (comparable to Percona XtraBackup)
  • Restore procedures follow the existing process used for Percona/MySQL
