Elasticsearch NG

Description

Elasticsearch is a search and analytics engine that can cover a wide range of use cases. Both configuration and data query can be done via a REST API. Elasticsearch is high-performance and can be built-in a distributed way, so that high availability is possible.

This is what we want to achieve with this service

  • High-speed connection of your application to Elasticsearch
  • Data storage in ISO 27001 certified data centers

This is what you can expect from our service

  • User authentication via upstream Nginx for Elasticsearch REST API
  • Up to 100GB data
  • Advanced monitoring, for example B. Cluster status and distribution
  • For more information, see “Managed Services”

Optional Service Features

  • Advanced configuration
  • Individual plugins
  • Roles and rights functionality
  • Prevent internal access from setup
  • Other sizes (flavors) of the managed cloud instances

Service Requests

  • Adjust RAM usage for service
  • Restart the service
  • Adding a node (without data transfer)
  • User management for external access (Basic Auth)

Standard Configurations

We offer you two different standard hosting solutions that differ in performance and availability. The configuration of Elasticsearch is completely in your hands. If your requirements are not covered or you would like support with the setup, please contact our consulting team to develop an individual solution tailored to your needs.

Single server setup

With this variant, the cost aspect is the main focus. This variant cannot be combined with SLA Premium and is therefore particularly suitable for storing non-critical data and limited availability.

Cluster Setup (Our Best Practice)

If constant, near real-time analysis of your log data is business-critical, we recommend an Elasticsearch Cluster with at least three nodes. With the optionally available SLA Premium, we give an availability of 99.8% on our standard installation.

External access

You have access to your data and Elasticsearch via a public REST API. For example, you can carry out the analysis in your own tools and there is no need to install tools in the setup. For external access, an additional Nginx service is required, which helps transfer data via an SSL connection. Access is secured via Basic Auth.

Optional Features

Roles and Permissions

We offer an extension for Elasticsearch to manage users and access rights.

Custom Configuration

Please note that custom configurations may result in limitations about support and availability. This applies particularly to the installation of third-party software. Please contact us for a quote.

Plugins

Plugins are not included in the standard single-server or cluster setup configurations. We can install plugins upon request.

Managed Cloud Instance Sizes

We would be happy to provide a quote for larger or smaller Managed Cloud Instances upon request.

FAQ

Can or must I handle the configuration of indices and shards?

Yes. Please contact our consulting team if you have questions about Elasticsearch configuration.

What happens if the disk space for the database runs low?

Our alerting system triggers an alarm when the disk space limit is approached. We will attempt to increase the storage space temporarily in the short term; however, it remains your responsibility to stay within the disk storage limits. Please contact our Service Management team to receive a custom quote for servers requiring more than 100 GB of permanent storage.

Can the cluster be used for other purposes, such as a central log server?

Yes. This is generally possible. However, we recommend our "Central Log Server" product, as availability and support requirements may differ; when combining use cases, the lowest service level applies to all them.

Do I have access to the Elasticsearch API if, for example, I have a VPN connection to my setup?

Yes. By default, anyone with access to the setup has access to the API. However, we can restrict this access.
