Options range from basic certificates offering standard security to enhanced protection with Extended Validation (EV). Website encryption also fosters customer trust, as media coverage has raised public awareness of this issue. Browsers that support EV display a green address bar next to the URL, along with your company name and the name of the certificate authority. What’s more, secure data transmission via encryption has become a positive factor for search engine rankings. Certificates are issued for a specific term and must be renewed regularly to avoid confusing or alarming your customers.

FAQ

Is the main domain "example.de" automatically covered when I order a certificate for "www.example.de"?

No. This applies only to the following certificates offered by us:

  • GeoTrust True BusinessID
  • GeoTrust True BusinessID EV
  • GeoTrust Quick SSL Premium

For the following certificates, this applies only to the first entry; all additional entries must be specified explicitly:

  • GeoTrust True BusinessID EV SAN
  • GeoTrust True BusinessID SAN

Important Information About Let's Encrypt Certificates

We operate a service for the automatic renewal of Let's Encrypt certificates. This service relies on the provider's functionality, over which we have no control. Consequently, we cannot guarantee that Let's Encrypt certificates can always be renewed without issues. Since Let's Encrypt certificates cannot be used on our hardware load balancers, it is not possible to quickly switch your setup from software load balancers to hardware load balancers. This has particular implications for DDoS attack mitigation, as our hardware load balancers are a key component of our mitigation process.
